Bradley Byrne Qualifies as Republican Candidate for Alabama’s 1stCongressional District

Mobile, AL – August 5, 2013 – Former State Senator and Two-Year College Chancellor Bradley Byrne filed his paperwork and accompanying fee with the Alabama Republican Party in Mobile this morning, officially qualifying him as a candidate in the Republican primary for the special election to be held next month. Byrne, now a Mobile attorney focusing on economic development, is credited with cleaning up widespread corruption and cronyism in the Two-Year College System.

“I look forward to sharing my vision for the people of Southwest Alabama over these next seven weeks,” Byrne said. “Our nation and our region face many difficulties, but we also enjoy abundant opportunities. I’m confident that, with the right leadership, we will take advantage of our unique moment,” he added. Byrne’s campaign has focused on his extensive grassroots and volunteer network, saying “We will work hard every day of this campaign to win this election one vote at a time.  I look forward to campaigning door to door and at as many public events as we can attend to take our message directly to the citizens of southwest Alabama”

Governor Robert Bentley has set the primary election for Tuesday, September 24th. Byrne and his wife Rebecca have been married for 32 years and are the parents of four children. For more information about the Byrne for Congress campaign, please visit www.byrneforcongress.com.
